This has been a very exciting semester for me. I was trying to get into this class last year, but I guess no cookies for me. This class has given me more knowledge about one of the things I love best that I'm surprised that there is still much to know. I will also say that it has been a privilege for me to be in this class. I have learned so much, I don't know what else I can say! I feel like creative writing is a part of me because I understand it. I know that some of the people in the class cannot understand or might not even justify what I am saying, also my ideas maybe a little complex to understand, but I know that creative writing itself will understand what I am trying to say.
The best part about the class what just being able to decipher different poems, and find out what they meant. My thoughts are abstract so symbolism is fun to decipher to me. Their might be one part of the poem that I like and it can be used as a metaphor, but in that time me realizing it, I have already came up with different things that this part of the poem could mean. It could mean anything! And I think that is what poets like the most about poetry. Their works can have a million meanings in them, but it is up to the reader in order to understand. And it shows how great minds are, because not all people can get the same reaction or understanding from the same piece. I got that a lot in class. Everyone will be thinking the same thing and people talking after would elaborate on what they are talking about, but I might see it from a different perspective. I don't think my classmates like that about me much, but I know that some of the times that I was right, or close to what ideal was meant for the piece. Its not all about just reading poems and understanding them, its about using your creativity to understand what its a about and conjure up all kinds of ideas that might seem right. Nobody is wrong.
What I didn't like about the class was, I felt like I was always the one to talk. And seeing as I really like this class, which I got asked about a lot, its understandable. But to all those who do not think that their works are great do not belittle yourself. I've read plenty of other people's stuff in class and they are actually great. Just because you may not think that you are good at something, doesn't mean that you are not. I've read great stories, heard great ideas, and themes about them that would keep you thinking. Everyone just seemed afraid to be a voice. Well it is obvious that it wasn't hard for me, I just wish I could say the same to everyone else. And to my classmates, even though you guys were as quiet as a mouse, you are all great thinkers. I can see your minds written down on paper and they are indeed intriguing. I think I have learned from you guys also because there is no such thing a regular mind. Everyone is creative, even those who hated the class and you know who you are! Keep up the great work! You never know, your piece could be a best seller one day!
really great thoughts here!
