Total Eclipse

I have already written about the essay packets that we have been talking about, yet I have not talked about the Total Eclipse.  In this essay, the fear of death lies on each page and she, the narrator explains her experience in seeing a Lunar eclipse. Throughout the whole essay she explains how she felt and the things around her while she is witnessing this event. As she is describing the moon coming into place in front of the sun, she shows in detail how everything becomes distorted and discombobulated. The narrator continues the  suspense in the essay by holding back the information of the eclipse as it is happening. Along with the detail it added visual to how the narrator was seeing things in her way and what it would resemble.

When all became black, she shows frightfulness in her piece, by using her words to display a slow and painful death through the eclipse. There is not much you can explain in darkness other than its dark and fearful, but she took it to another level that I personally enjoyed reading.  The narrator invited the darkness in a new light to say the least. She expressed the darkness in platinum light. She expressed that it was so dark that you could still see a light but a light that was only so bright that you could hardly see. The best analogy that came to me was dry ice. If you touch it, it would be so cold that it could burn your fingers off. Such a feeling that is an oxymoron is present in this piece of hers, which is very creative in its own way.

            A part of the piece that I liked to point out myself was the fact that as she is describing the Lunar Eclipse, the time has elapsed. And she shows this in great detail within her piece by slowing giving the information of how the eclipse is happening. She slowly holds back the important information; this information is holding the whole piece together, yet she makes to audience beg for it by giving it to them inch by inch. Her realization of the fantasy vs. real world contrasts with the light vs. dark in the story of the eclipse showing that she is having a hard time differentiating between the two. It also shows how great of an impact the eclipse has on her as a whole.
